MUSHROOM FORAGING IN THE FOREST
There are not events programmed now. Here we will let you know the place and date of the next one for signing up.
SIGN UPMYCELIO organizes, together with the eco-hotel L’Avenc de Tavertet (link), mushroom-infused stays with a tour of our production sites and a mushroom foraging excursion through the forest. With the mushrooms that we harvest together and some of our cultivated ones we prepare a delicious meal. The tours are conducted by our team and a local expert who helps participants to differentiate between edible and inedible mushrooms. The spectacular location of the forests of Tavertet provides amazing views along the way.
These nature excursions are suitable for people of any age that provide an invigorating mix of physical activity, apprenticeship into the fungi world and gastronomic pleasure. These events usually take place in the fall.
MUSHROOM CULTIVATION ON TREE LOGS WORKSHOP
There are not events programmed now. Here we will let you know the place and date of the next one for signing up.
SIGN UP“Kinoko”, the Japanese term for mushrooms, literally means “child of the tree”, as it is on the trunks of fallen trees that mushrooms proliferate in nature.
The cultivation of mushrooms on logs, specifically shiitake, is a practice that began centuries ago in Japan. It was realized that the logs where shiitakes were found in the forest could be dragged to the backyards and continued to produce mushrooms at home for several more years.
In our workshops we inoculate logs collected from the surrounding forest with mycelium from several of the species we grow. Participants can take the logs home and harvest their own mushrooms in a few months!
The event culminates with a giant paella made with a selection of the best mushrooms from our production. These events usually take place in the spring.
